On Thursday, April 30, Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit, Inc. (TCAT) Board of Directors voted to approve the route change recommendations developed via the Transit Development Plan planning process.
The final route change recommendations were presented to the Board of Directors by TCAT Staff and consultants from Perteet, the consulting agency contracted for planning services. These recommendations were developed by examining existing ridership data, considering potential new ridership, identifying met and unmet transit needs, and then engaging with the community in a public participation process. TCAT held two rounds of ten informational public meetings each, as well as a public hearing in front of the TCAT Board of Directors, in order to listen to and consider the community's suggestions. The final route change recommendations adopted by the Board of Directors include additional modifications as a result of public input.
Moving forward, TCAT staff will immediately begin development of the final route schedules, as well as finalizing the Transit Development Plan document. The TDP document also includes sections about capital investment, park and ride, and technology.
