Shelter Signage Phase 1 Complete

Over the last year and a half, we've been trying to improve the communication to our riders. We have set up the TCAT Transit Report and improved our website so important information is more accessible. We created a distribution list of riders who want to receive copies of our press releases (send me an email at jb1@tcatmail.com if you'd like to be added to this list). We have built quite an extensive list of media contacts to whom we send out our press releases. The greeting on the 277-RIDE number now includes a daily service announcement.  We have even run ads in local papers outside Tompkins County to alert our out-of-county riders of upcoming route changes. We also hope to introduce a text alert service next year, as mentioned in my previous blog.

Lately we have completed putting schedule and route maps at our key stops and shelters. We started putting the signage at our top 30 shelters/stops based on rider usage. The next phase of this project is to look at the next 20 or 30 shelters/stops and see what it will take to put signage there. We would like to be able to provide schedule/map signage for all our stops. Unfortunately if we did this, it would take forever to get them all updated when we have a service change. So we have to be cautious as we roll out this project to make sure we don't bite off more than we can chew, so to speak. Send me an email and let me know what you think about the schedule signage.

In the meantime, we will continue to look for more ways to communicate service change information with you.
