FUN FACTS!
The length of one of our new hybrid busses is almost double that of the Cassini-Huygens space craft.
A vanpool is a group of 7 to 15 people who commute together on a regular basis in a commuter van. The commuters live near each other and/or work near each other. Typically, although not always, these commuters do not live close to a fixed bus route.
One person volunteers to be the coordinator of the vanpool, while others may elect to be alternate drivers. The members of the vanpool set their own daily schedule and commute route.
The van itself, along with insurance and sometimes even gas money, is provided by a transit agency, municipality, employer, or a private company. While members of the vanpool do pay for the service, but especially if subsidized by an employer, the savings compared to owning and operating separate vehicles can be substantial!
TCAT is currently working with Cornell University and other area agencies and employers to set up a vanpool service. The size of the program and the cost to individual commuters has not yet be determined. TCAT will publicize the service once it becomes available.
Contact us at tcat@tcatmail.com or 277-RIDE if you have questions about the vanpool service!
TCAT ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Paratransit Services provides door-to-door, demand-responsive transportation for people with disabilities.
Every bus in the TCAT fleet has a bicycle rack mounted on its front end.

We love to reunite people with their stuff. It happens all the time. We want to help you.
Vanpool is a unique program designed to transport people from outlying areas of our community that are not close to our traditional bus routes, to the same or close end destinations.
